McCarter & English chooses new chairman

New Jersey law firm McCarter & English, whose Hartford and Stamford practices include environment and energy, today named Michael P. Kelly as its chairman.

Kelly succeeds Andrew T. Berry, who died suddenly on July 24, after serving 44 years with the firm – the last 12 as chairman of the executive committee.

“I am honored to take on this leadership position with the firm,” Kelly said. “My long-time friend, Drew, served the firm well over many years. I will miss him dearly and am humbled to follow in his footsteps.”

A partner at the firm for nearly a decade, Kelly is the former managing partner of the firm’s Wilmington, Del., office and serves on the executive committee. His practice includes toxic tort, complex civil litigation, product liability, environmental law, commercial litigation and intellectual property/Hatch Waxman litigation.
