Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra is urging consumers to support city retailers in this difficult economy.
“Just as there’s Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday — now it’s simply a shout out to the community: ‘Shop Hartford!'” Segarra said in a statement.
To show his own support as a shopper, the mayor says that, starting around 3:30 p.m. today, he plans to stop by the following stores:
The Hartford Store, 45 Pratt St., downtown; De Vars-Phillips Florists and Antiques, 242 Sisson Ave., in the West End; Touch of Class Boutique, 628 Blue Hills Ave., Blue Hills neighborhood; Plaza Del Mercado, 704 Park St., in the Frog Hollow neighborhood; and Mozzicatto-De Pasquale Bakery, 329 Franklin Ave., in the South End.
Segarra also plans to submit a letter of support to “Shop Hartford” at Monday night’s City Council meeting.
