• Peter Dwyer, executive chef at the Hilton Hartford in Hartford, received a gold medal from the American Culinary Federation at the 2008 Myrtle Beach ACF Southeastern Chefs’ competition.

• Martha Borbonet, manager of Hartford’s Flatbush Avenue McDonald’s, received the Ray Kroc Award for superior results in areas of performance, operational excellence, commitment to people and building the business. This distinction puts Borbonet in the top 1 percent of McDonald’s restaurant managers in the country.

• Charles M. Smith, director of business growth advisors at Haggett Longobardi in Glastonbury, was the recipient of the Chairman’s Award for services to the community from Target Training International. Smith is involved in community service initiatives at Capital Workforce Partners.
