Hartford managed care provider Aetna Inc. named Michael G. Mathias, 51, as vice president and chief information officer.
Mathias, 51, reports to Aetna Executive Vice President Meg McCarthy.
He previously managed Aetna’s information services operation as chief technology officer since 2008.
As CIO, Mathias will have continue to oversee operations and updating of information services as well as implementing Aetna’s long-term technology strategy.
He joined Aetna in 1993 as a systems engineering manager, taking on increasingly responsible roles over time. Earlier in his career, Mathias served in various managerial, technical, and application development capacities with UBS/PaineWebber Inc., Verizon, Educational Testing Service, Macmillan Publishing, and Prudential Insurance.
