Easthampton Precision Manufacturing has bought an industrial building in Rocky Hill in a $1.2 million transaction.
The Massachusetts-based company, which does business as Easthampton Quality Machine, is a precision machining contract manufacturer serving the aerospace, defense and heavy equipment industries.
The building, at 37 Inwood Road, is set on 1 acre. It was sold by Forrest Machine, which has moved into a larger facility in Berlin.
Jay Morris, of O,R&L Commercial Real Estate, was the sole broker in the deal.
Easthampton owner Jeremy Segal is from Connecticut. He says after 11 years in Massachusetts he had been looking for more than a year for the right opportunity to return to his home state.
“There’s just a better base of machinists to draw from that are potential candidates to employ,” he told the Hartford Business Journal.
Segal declined to say how many of his employees will move with him from Massachusetts, but he said he’s looking to hire between three and five people after the move.
He said he plans to open up the floor space in the building to move in machine tools that will be relocated from Easthampton.
“From there, we’re going to clean up the outside, replace windows, replace doors. There’s just a lot of cosmetic and functional stuff initially,” he said.
Segal said the move will happen as soon as possible.
