West Springfield lender United Financial Bancorp Inc. is closing late this spring two Connecticut branches in East Windsor and Plymouth, and consolidating a third in Southington. All three are former New England Bank locations.
CEO Richard B. Collins said shutting both branches on or around May 31 will make its operations more efficient.
Its branch at 98 Main St. in Southington will be consolidated with a new location under construction several blocks away, at 158 N. Main.
United acquired the branches last year when it bought former Enfield thrift New England Bancshares Inc.
After the closing, the $2.4 billion-asset lender will still have 12 Connecticut branches in Hartford and New Haven counties.
