An Oxford, Mass., fiber-optic company will move 40 employees into Putnam’s former Superwinch building in May, NorwichBulletin.com reports.
Town records show the Superwinch building at 45 Danco Road was sold Feb. 3 to Danco Properties LLC paid just over $1 million for the building at 45 Danco Road, the newspaper reported Thursday.
Opticonx will bring all of its 40 employees — some of whom already live in northeastern Connecticut — to Putnam. Once there, Doherty said the company hopes to use the extra space to expand operations.
Opticonx operates out of two buildings in Oxford totaling about 18,000 square feet, and the relocation to Putnam will give it an additional 10,000 square feet, all under one roof, co-owner and founder Paul Doherty said.
Doherty, a Danielson native, and his wife, Patricia Doherty, founded Opticonx in 1995. Patricia is the company’s president, Paul Doherty said.
Superwinch produced electric and hydraulic winches at plants in Putnam and Thompson for 40 years before announcing a consolidation of operations in February that saw the company relocate to Killingly’s industrial park.
