Mashantucket Pequot Tribe plans to reopen Two Trees Inn in Ledyard

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation plans to reopen the Two Trees Inn in Ledyard in spring 2026 and has selected Waterford Hotel Group as the hotel’s operator.

The 139-room property has been closed since the COVID-19 pandemic. Tribal officials said the reopening will include staffing, training and operational planning ahead of the relaunch.

Two Trees Inn, which opened in 1993, is located near Foxwoods Resort Casino and the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center. The property includes wooded grounds near Lantern Hill, along with amenities such as an indoor pool and fitness center.

“Waterford Hotel Group has been a valued partner to our region for many years, and we are pleased to work with them on the reopening of Two Trees Inn,” Mashantucket Pequot Chairman Rodney Butler said in a statement.

Waterford Hotel Group, founded in 1986 and based in Connecticut, has been expanding its national footprint in recent months. Earlier this month, the company merged with Chicago-based Maverick Hotels & Restaurants, growing its combined portfolio to more than 50 properties across the eastern U.S., Midwest and south-central regions.

The company has also taken over management of multiple hotel properties in Baltimore and New Orleans in recent months, adding to a Connecticut portfolio that includes the Marriott Hartford Downtown, Sheraton Hartford Hotel at Bradley Airport and DoubleTree by Hilton Hartford Downtown.

Waterford President Michael Heaton said the firm will oversee preparations to return Two Trees Inn to operation. The tribe has not disclosed whether renovations are planned or the expected cost of the reopening project.
