Tax and business consultants UHY Advisors Inc. has sold its 150-member New England practice, including its Hartford, New Haven and Boston offices, to accounting firm Marcum LLP.
Terms were not disclosed for the deal that is effective Friday.
Before the acquisition, Marcum had five employees in a small Greenwich office.
With the acquisition, Manhattan-based Marcum has 950 employees, including 117 partners, in 15 locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida and Grand Cayman, British West Indies.
Marcum Managing Partner Jeffrey Weiner said the deal adds resources and expertise for clients and matches the company’s growth plan. Weiner said the plan is to add staff in Connecticut and New England.
Weiner said UHY, aware of Marcum’s growth plans for New England, approached Marcum with the offer to sell its operation.
Anthony Scillia, who ran UHY’s New England division, will serve as managing partner of Marcum’s New England region.
Chicago-based UHY continues with more than 1,000 employees in about a dozen offices on the East Coast, Midwest and Southwest.
