March 10, 2008 — OF NOTE

• Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. in Middletown received the 2007 Distinguished Services Award from the Connecticut Association of Street & Highway Officials. The company earned the award because of its dedication and support to the principles and ideals of the association.

• Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center and Burgdorf/Bank of America Health Center donated coats, hats, gloves, and sweaters to patients. Donations were collected for the fourth annual drive at both centers.

• Bonnie Gauthier, president and CEO at Hebrew Health Care in West Hartford, received the Chairman’s Special Recognition Award from the Connecticut Association of Not-for-profit Providers of the Aging. Gauthier was recognized for making special contributions to the organization.

• Richard Palo, director of the CONN-OSHA division at the Connecticut Department of Labor, was honored by the Occupational Safety and Health State Plan Association. Palo was honored for his service and contributions to the group.

• The Connecticut Society of Association Executives named Mark R. Schuman association executive of the year. Schuman, president of S&S Management Services Inc. in Bloomfield, is also a member and past president of CSAE.
