Chester manufacturer honored for tripling exports

Chester aerospace parts manufacturer Aerocision was honored on Jan. 11 for tripling its foreign sales from $300,000 to 2010 to $ 1million in 2011.

U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney (D-Vernon) and Anne Evans, Connecticut district director for the U.S. Department of Commerce, applauded Aerocision’s achievements over the past year during a visit to the manufacturer this past week.

Aerocision CEO Andrew Gibson said a critical point for his company came during his participation on a U.S. Trade Mission to the United Kingdom.

He said his travel to the country with Courtney, a member of the Armed Services Committee, impressed the supply chain officials at Rolls-Royce, a major Aerocision client. This helped grow the level of the company’s exporting.

“In sum, the trip and our association with the Department of Commerce added prestige and credibility at a critical time,” Gibson said in an announcement prior to Courtney’s visit.
