Manchester exec named SBA’s CT Small Business Person of the Year

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced Monday that Dennis Nash, president and CEO of Manchester-based Control Station, is the federal agency’s Connecticut 2023 Small Business Person of the Year.

In a statement, Catherine Marx, SBA’s Connecticut District Director, said the 54-year-old West Hartford resident is an innovative leader and has given back to his community.

“A SBA Small Business Person of the Year is one that shows staying power, innovativeness of product, responsiveness to adversity, contributions to community and growth in employees; this criteria is deeply rooted in Control Station, since its founding on UConn’s campus,” Marx said. “Indeed, under Mr. Nash’s leadership Control Station is recognized as a leader in process analytics and optimization.”

According to the SBA, Control Station was formed on the UConn campus in 1988 and soon after began licensing a suite of process simulation and controller tuning tools to colleges and universities.

The SBA said Nash’s multimillion-dollar business employs 15 full-time staff and called Nash “a forward-thinking strategist who has positioned Control Station as an emerging leader in industrial process analytics and optimization.”
