Manchester Barbecue Pellets opens new manufacturing facility

Manchester Barbecue Pellets, which produces premium-quality hardwood pellets for grills, is opening a new manufacturing facility at 46 Apel Place.

The Connecticut Cooperative Farmers Association was located in the brick building for 78 years before it closed in 2016.

Manchester Barbecue Pellets purchased the former animal feed mill building in 2019 and has upgraded it with funding through the Connecticut Innovations Angel Investor Tax Credit Program.

State and town leaders will join company officials, including co-owners Michael and Scott Licamele, and Rich Ray, vice president of operations, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday.

The new facility will allow Manchester Barbecue Pellets to create up to 25 manufacturing jobs over the next 24 months, the company said.

Manchester Barbecue Pellets says it produces wood pellets that are locally sourced and 100% natural hickory, oak and maple.

A tour of the facility will follow the ribbon cutting.
