Gov. Dannel Malloy cited Connecticut’s progressive energy policy in attracting a Scottish company to open an American headquarters in Stamford.
Renewable Resources of Scotland announced back in April that it will open a U.S. headquarters in Stamford and hire 50 employees by the end of 2012.
Malloy on Wednesday said he was pleased the state’s clean energy programs through its utilities and the new Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority was the primary reason Renewable Resources choose Connecticut for its American headquarters.
“Having a company like Renewable Resources locate their U.S. headquarters in Connecticut is a sign that our effort to lead in the clean energy and energy efficiency sectors has the potential to drive job creation now and into the future,” Malloy said in a press release on Wednesday.
Renewable Resources offers renewable energy for commercial and residential customers, such as solar installations.
Connecticut just launched its new renewable energy credit program designed to increase the build out of renewable installations. The program has been immensely popular with companies such as SolarCity, Borrego Solar and Renewable Resources.
