After declaring a state of emergency late Thursday to allow Connecticut to seek federal funds for road salt, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy will announce plans today to make more salt available.
As the 12th major winter weather event hit the state Thursday, some cities and towns have seen their salt stockpiles depleted, and are facing shortages.
The problem isn’t unique to Connecticut. Recent media reports detail similar shortages in much of the Northeast and beyond.
