Gov. Dannel P. Malloy picked a Stamford urban redevelopment official to run the state’s Commission on Culture and Tourism.
Christopher “Kip” Bergstrom will take over as executive director, replacing recently ousted Karen Senich, who was hired by former Gov. M. Jodi Rell.
Bergstrom also will assume additional responsibilities as part of the Department of Economic and Community Development.
Bergstrom has been executive director of the Stamford Urban Redevelopment Commission since 2008.
Currently, the Commission on Culture and Tourism has a marketing budget of one dollar. Malloy’s budget proposal funds that portion of the commission at $15 million.
