Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Monday that he has appointed Terry Edelstein of South Glastonbury to serve as Nonprofit Liaison, a cabinet-level position that serves as a state advocate for nonprofit community providers. She will officially begin the position on October 5.
The position was established by Malloy last year and functions at the same level as a commissioner of a state agency.
Edelstein has served as president and CEO of the Connecticut Community Providers Association (CCPA) for the past thirty years, a trade association that represents organizations providing services and support for people with disabilities and significant challenges including children and adults with mental illness, developmental and physical disabilities.Â
Edelstein holds a Masters of Public Health from Yale University Medical School and a Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College in Ohio. She has served on a number of state and national committees, including recently as a member of Gov. Malloy’s Two Storm Panel and also as an appointee on the Department of Children and Families’ Continuum of Care Partnership.
