Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said Thursday that his economic development chief, budget director, tax commissioner, and chief of staff will all remain in his administration during his second term, which begins next month.
The governor said he has reappointed Catherine Smith as commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development, Benjamin Barnes as secretary of the Office of Policy and Management and Kevin Sullivan as commissioner of the Department of Revenue Services.
Malloy said Mark Ojakian, appointed about a year into Malloy’s first term, will also stay on as his chief of staff.
Meanwhile, Department of Administrative Services Commissioner Donald DeFronzo intends to retire in January. He will be replaced by Melody Currey, who is commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles, Malloy said. He plans to name a successor to Currey in the coming weeks.
