Malloy orders state data portal

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s office said he has signed an executive order calling for every state agency to compile data that will be placed on the state’s website for the public to see.

Officials have hired Socrata Inc. to build the portal, which is not yet live. The Office of Policy and Management will manage and administer the portal.

“The new portal will provide us with opportunities for a more collaborative, interactive and transparent approach to measure the performance of government services and program,” OPM Secretary Benjamin Barnes said in a statement.
