Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has named former IBM executive and inventor Nicholas M. Donofrio as chairman of the state’s Board of Regents for Higher Education, his office announced.
Donofrio has served on the board, which oversees 17 state colleges and universities, since it launched at the start of last year.
He worked for IBM from 1967 until his retirement in 2008, when he was the company’s executive vice president for innovation and technology. He holds seven patents.
Malloy also appointed JoAnn H. Price, co-founder and managing partner of West Hartford’s Fairview Capital, to the board.
