Malloy named to FCC advisory board

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has been named to the Federal Communication Commission’s Intergovernmental Advisory Board (IAC), with Consumer Counsel Elin Swanson Katz serving as his designee.

The IAC is comprised of 15 representatives of state, local and tribal governments with expertise in telecommunications policy. Malloy is the only governor named to the IAC, which provides ongoing advice and information to the FCC on a broad range of telecommunications issues, including cable and local franchising, public rights-of-way, facilities siting, broadband access, and more.

In his letter to the FCC appointing Katz as his designee, Malloy noted her work as the public’s advocate for telecommunication services.

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler made the appointment Dec. 30.
