Gov. Dannel P. Malloy vowed Friday to push for more agency consolidations in the upcoming legislative session to further streamline state government.
The plan comes less than a year after lawmakers approved a 30 percent reduction in state government agencies during the 2011 legislative session, which shrank the number of agencies to 59 from 81.
Malloy now wants to consolidate seven more.
His plan includes consolidations within the University of Connecticut, Department of Administrative Services, Department on Human Rights, Protection and Advocacy, Office of the State Comptroller, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Department of Labor, and the Connecticut Health and Education Facilities Authority.
Malloy’s proposal did not reveal how much savings would be realized.
Last years consolidations were estimated to have saved $10 million.
