Malloy appointees to appear before CT lawmakers

Several of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s cabinet appointees and the two state auditor candidates are expected to appear Thursday before a Connecticut legislative panel, the first step in the confirmation process, The Associated Press reports.

The General Assembly’s Executive and Legislative Nominations Committee has scheduled a public hearing on Thursday, where members will hear from Benjamin Barnes, Malloy’s pick for state budget director.

Former state Sen. Donald DeFronzo, Malloy’s choice to run the Department of Administrative Services, is also scheduled to testify. Patrica Rehmer, the current Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services commissioner who Malloy is reappointing, is also expected to appear at the hearing.

Former state Reps. Robert Ward and John Geragosian, both nominated by legislative leaders for the two state auditors positions, will also appear.
