Hartford-based engineering firm Fuss & O’Neill has named Kevin Johnson as its new president and CEO.
He succeeds Kevin Grigg as the firm’s top leader. Grigg retired after more than 30 years in the consulting industry, including 11 years with Fuss & O’Neill.
Johnson began working for the business in 2019, overseeing its transportation practice.
In 2020, he was promoted to executive vice president of business development, leading the firm’s growth and geographic expansion, through acquisitions and other strategies.
Fuss & O’Neill made a splash last year, announcing plans to relocate to downtown Hartford.
Johnson began in his new role on Jan. 1.
“As we finish the year of our firm’s historic centennial anniversary, I am honored by the opportunity to lead Fuss & O’Neill into the next 100 years,” Johnson said. “I am committed to upholding our core values: fostering a ‘best place to work’ culture, protecting the natural and built environments, and enhancing the quality of life in communities throughout the Northeast.”
Johnson has been working with Grigg through the transition. Grigg also recently stepped down from his position on the Connecticut Business and Industry Association’s board of directors.
“Kevin has been in the consulting business for decades, so he is deeply familiar with exceeding client expectations and executing successful projects,” Grigg said. “Moreover, his character and innate leadership skills are an ideal fit for the role of CEO. He takes a balanced approach to decision making – listening to differing viewpoints, weighing consequences and considering big-picture goals.”
