Magellan Health names new ICORE chief

Magellan Health Services Inc. announced its second leadership change in as many months at the Avon health outsourcing company.

Magellan said today in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that Alan Lotvin, M.D. is the new chief executive of its ICORE Healthcare pharmaceutical management subsidiary. Lotvin, 47, previously was ICORE’s president.

ICORE’s previous CEO, Raju L. Mantena, 41, is no longer with the company, effective today, the filing said. The company did not give a reason for Mantena’s departure.

In July, Magellan named former Cigna Corp. executive Karen Rohan as president. Rohan, 46, was previously ran Cigna’s group disability, dental and vision care business.

The role of president had been vacant since February, when Rene Lerer was named chairman and CEO. Lerer was previously the president and CEO.

In 2006, Magellan paid a base price of $210 million to acquire ICORE, based in Orlando, Fla. ICORE helps reduce a health plan’s specialty-drug cost under both medical and pharmacy benefit plans.
