Macy’s Inc. plans to shut down part of its operations at its South Windsor distribution center, cutting 106 jobs, according to a notice filed with the state.
The company told the Connecticut Department of Labor and local officials that its entire “backstage operation” at 301 Governors Highway will close between Dec. 28, 2025, and Jan. 10, 2026. The action qualifies as a plant closing under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
The job cuts will affect 77 warehouse associates, eight power equipment operators, five core trainers, five ARO coordinators, four warehouse leads, three operations managers and several other positions.
Macy’s said affected employees will receive information about severance and other benefits, as well as opportunities to transfer to open positions at nearby Macy’s locations. None of the employees are represented by a union, and they do not have bumping rights.
“We’re committed to making this transition as smooth as possible,” said Jonathan Castro, Macy’s senior director of human resources, in an Oct. 28 notice to the state.
