Waterbury chemical and printing products manufacturer MacDermid Inc. said it has promoted Scott Benson to president, effective Friday.
Benson, who has been with MacDermid since 1999, was most recently group president of advance surface finishing and printing solutions.
He assumes his new duties from Daniel H. Leever, who has led McDermid for more than 25 years, and is CEO of its parent company, Platform Specialty Products Corp.
Platform — founded in 2013 for the purpose of acquiring chemical makers — acquired the Waterbury location when it bought MacDermid Group Inc. for $1.8 billion (including $756 million in debt), in Oct. 2013.
Platform bought an agro-chemical division from Middlebury’s Chemtura for $1 billion last year.
