Lydall Inc. said Friday a 40 percent increase in sales helped narrow the first-quarter loss for the Manchester maker of thermal and acoustical shielding for automobiles and buildings, and biomedical filters and containers.
Lydall lost $500,000, or 3 cents a share, in the three months ended March 31, compared to a loss of $4.5 million, or 27 cents a share, the same quarter last year.
Sales were $75.6 million in the period, up from $54.3 million a year ago.
CEO Dale Barnhart said the company’s best quarterly sales since the second quarter of 2008 point to a recovery in its markets.
