A developer of high-end homes has proposed constructing six single-family homes for seniors in Stamford, according to an application filed with the city’s Zoning Board.
The project, proposed by 35 Terrace LLC, would be built on a 1-acre site created by consolidating two lots at 35 Terrace Ave. The LLC, controlled by Luigi Altamura, bought the properties in May 2025 for $1.15 million, according to property records.
Altamura owns Stamford-based Altamura Homes, which has built about 15 homes in Fairfield County.
According to the application, each home would contain either 2,130 or 2,378 square feet and include three bedrooms. Plans call for a primary bedroom, living room, kitchen and garage on the first floor, with two bedrooms on the second floor.
The application says the development is similar to a use permitted as of right because it is intended for seniors or people with disabilities and their families. It says the project is not expected to affect traffic patterns or create safety hazards.
The homes would be clustered on the site to preserve open space.
Altamura said the project differs from much of Stamford’s recent housing development by offering two-story homes rather than multilevel townhouses built over garages.
“A lot of the development in Stamford is vertical,” he said.
