Home improvement retailer Lowe’s opened a new 33,000-square-foot outlet store in Meriden on 1201 East Main St.
The store already hired 12 employees, and is currently seeking six additional workers, according to a Meriden Town Hall spokeswoman. Lowe’s spent about five months renovating the store before opening it last week.
Lowe’s is among U.S. companies to experience a boost in profits amid the COVID-19 pandemic — largely attributed to people embarking on home improvement projects during spring lockdowns. The company reported profits spiking by nearly 69% during 2020’s second quarter, according to CNBC.
