Connecticut’s Office of State Ethics has imposed $10,265 in fines for delinquent filings by three lobbyists.
The penalties were handed out by the office’s Citizen’s Ethics Advisory Board. The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut was hit with a total of $4,810 in fines for failing to file registration before lobbying in 2007 and for filing all of its 2007 quarterly reports late.
The Connecticut Assisted Living Association also failed to file on time and received a $5,025 fine, which was half of the maximum penalty because the nonprofit association argued that it was not intentional and it has a limited lobbying budget. Lobbyist Maria Cahill was fined $430 for not filing a mandatory report on compensation. Cahill’s filing was 43 days late and the fine was $10 for each day.
