LITERARY INITIATIVE’S SUCCESS CELEBRATED

The success of the Haskins Literacy Initiative, a three-year, $844,000 pilot project that is improving the reading skills of 800 students in five Hartford schools was celebrated at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving’s annual Celebration of Giving. Lavarey Banton, 8, a third-grader at Rawson Elementary School, was featured in a video highlighting the initial success of the foundation-funded initiative. Pictured, from left, are Mark F.
