Lincoln Financial Corp., the anchor tenant at the Metro Center on Church Street, has renewed its lease through 2028, which will be its 30-year anniversary in downtown Hartford.
Jay Russo, a Hartford-based spokesman for Lincoln, confirmed the lease renewal Friday. The company has been there 18 years already, he said.
Lincoln occupies eight floors, or about 190,000 square feet, in the 12-story building owned by West Hartford-based The Fremont Group. About 700 employees work there and rely on an attached parking garage, Russo said.
After researching other locations as a matter of “due diligence,” Russo said, the insurer decided to stay put.
“Ultimately the location and quality of the building we feel is convenient for our employees and a comfortable working atmosphere,” he said. “And the extension of the lease allows us to continue our long-term partnership with the community, which we’re very proud of.”
Other tenants in the fully leased, 293,639-square-foot building include CohnReznick and the Connecticut Business & Industry Association, said Jonathan Keller, president of The Fremont Group.
“They made a big commitment,” Keller said. “It’s a ten-year extension that doesn’t start for another couple of years, so we’re really excited about that. We’re very proud of the building and proud to have them as an anchor tenant for the long term.”
