The Lincoln Culinary Institute is closing one of its Connecticut campuses and will consolidate about 170 extra students in Hartford, officials confirmed Tuesday.
The cooking school is shutting down its campus on Mapleton Avenue and transferring about 170 students to its main campus in Hartford, Scott Shaw, chief operating officer of Lincoln Educational Services Corp., told HartfordBusiness.com.
The New Jersey for-profit owns the culinary institute.
Shaw said declining enrollment at both campuses forced the consolidation. The school will now have about 640 total students taking classes at its Hartford campus on Sigourney Street.
Lincoln Educational owns about eight schools in Connecticut and dozens across the country including Lincoln Technical Institute in New Britain and the Lincoln College of New England in Southington.
The company is in the process of closing seven schools across the country as it deals with a challenging economic environment and new regulatory challenges, Shaw said.
