Sen. Joseph Lieberman said today 10 Connecticut National Guard and Marine Corps Reserve facilities in received $4.1 million for improvements and upgrades as part of the federal stimulus aid package to the state.
Lieberman said $2.8 million will be used to upgrade utilities at Camp Hartell, next to Bradley International Airport, in Windsor Locks and to replace metal roofing at Camp Rell in Norwich. The money also will pay for energy management systems at National Guard armories in Hartford, Enfield New Haven, Norwalk, Rockville, Stratford and Waterbury.
An additional $1.3 million will go to the Marine Corps Reserve Center in New Haven, the senator said.
“Connecticut’s Guardsmen and Marines have always come to the aid of their fellow citizens at times of war and natural disaster,” Lieberman said. “These funds will help provide the modern facilities they need to continue doing so and create jobs as we weather the current economic storm.”
In all, Connecticut received more than $3 billion under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
