Liberty Mutual, Landmark Properties partner on UConn student housing project

Liberty Mutual Investments and Landmark Properties have formed a joint venture to develop the nine-story, 740-bed student housing project adjacent to UConn’s campus in Storrs.

The Mark Mansfield, to be located at the corner of North Eagleville Road and Ledoyt Road, represents the first partnership between the two firms and an expansion of Liberty Mutual’s student housing investment portfolio.

The development is part of a larger student housing initiative in Mansfield that is at various stages. The project complements an earlier phase of construction on North Eagleville Road that began in spring 2024, with the overall development expected to deliver approximately 1,350 beds across multiple buildings.

The Mark Mansfield will feature amenities including a fitness center and clubhouse, sauna, hot tub, study lounge, computer lab, gaming lounge and bicycle parking.

Nationally, Liberty Mutual Investments’ student housing portfolio includes approximately 17,000 beds focused on housing near large public universities. The firm invests more than $100 billion of capital globally on behalf of Liberty Mutual Group.

Athens, Georgia-based Landmark Properties specializes in student housing development and management, with more than $15 billion in assets under management and over 115 residential communities comprising 72,000 beds under management nationwide.

TSB Capital Advisors arranged financing for the deal.
