Liberty Bank has hired Daniel S. Matos of West Hartford as its senior vice president and in-house legal counsel.
Matos will lead Liberty in creating an office of the general counsel while providing strategic direction and overseeing all of the bank’s legal matters.
Matos was most recently principal and founder of the Matos Group LLC, a regional real estate development company based in Hartford. Before that, he was a senior partner with the law firm of Day, Berry & Howard (now Day Pitney) for over 20 years.
Matos earned a Bachelor of Arts cum laude from UConn and a Juris Doctor degree cum laude from Temple University’s School of Law.

Matos will be based at Liberty Bank’s corporate headquarters in Middletown.
