Lego announces location of new Boston HQ; move set to begin in 2025

The Lego Group has selected a location for its new headquarters in Massachusetts, following its announcement in January that it will relocate from Enfield.

The Danish toymaker said its move will begin in mid-2025 and be completed in 2026, with its Enfield office closing in the fourth-quarter of 2026.

The new location at 1001 Boylston St. in Boston will serve as Lego’s Americas head office. Lego will occupy 100,000 square feet across five floors of the building, which overlooks the Charles River, the announcement says.

The company’s new address is in a building known as Parcel 12, which is under construction and is also slated to be the headquarters of CarGurus, a technology company that runs an online automotive marketplace.

Lego had been headquartered in Enfield since 1975.

“We’re incredibly excited to be moving to a new location with such a rich history, ideally located in Back Bay, between Boston and Cambridge,” said Skip Kodak, president of Lego Group in the Americas.

The company said the Boston location will “support the business’ long-term growth ambitions and mission to continue to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow.”

The new office emphasizes sustainability and has floor-to-ceiling windows to provide sunlight. It will have spaces for collaboration and “concentrative work zones,” the company said.

Employees at Lego’s Enfield office will be offered jobs at the new location, according to the company.
