A Ledyard-based defense contractor has won a $45.9 million U.S. Navy contract to provide maintenance management services for the Military Sealift Command.
The contractor, Emprise Corp., develops maintenance software and equipment-monitoring systems for industrial and government customers, according to its website. Founded in 1987 by former U.S. Navy submarine service maintenance engineer James Diaz, the company also developed ShipsLog, a vessel log-keeping software platform approved by the U.S. Coast Guard.
According to the Department of Defense, the one-year contract begins immediately and runs through June 9, 2027. The work will be performed worldwide.
The Military Sealift Command operates about 125 civilian-crewed ships that transport military cargo and supplies, replenish Navy vessels at sea and support U.S. military operations around the world, according to the command's website.
The contract was awarded on a sole-source basis as a bridge contract, with proposals solicited directly from Emprise as the incumbent contractor.
The Military Sealift Command is headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia. According to its website, Emprise also has an office in Chesapeake, Virginia.
