Leadership Greater Hartford appoints Duffy CEO

Leadership Greater Hartford (LGH), which trains and connects leaders in the Hartford area, has appointed an adjunct professor who runs his own consulting firm as its new president and chief executive.

The organization’s board of directors announced Monday it selected Chris Duffy to succeed retiring president/CEO Ted Carroll, who held the post for 35 years, effective July 1.

Duffy lands at LGH after serving 16 years in leadership roles at General Electric and Travelers Cos., which has a major presence in downtown Hartford.

He is currently an adjunct leadership and psychology professor at Eastern Connecticut State University in Windham and Goodwin University in East Hartford. Duffy also recently completed an eight-month stint as a “success coach” with the Hartford chapter of the Obama Foundation’s Community Leadership Corps.

Duffy, also a volunteer firefighter and EMT in Windsor, earned his bachelor’s degree in information systems from Drexel University, and a master’s degree in organizational psychology from Columbia University. He is also a graduate of LGH’s Quest program and was named to Hartford Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty class of 2014.

“His passion and dedication to our region, plus his extensive background in business and civic organizations made him our top choice,” members of LGH’s board and search committee said in a statement.
