LAZ Parking plans Hartford HQ expansion, CEO transition

Hartford-based LAZ Parking plans to add more than 100 positions at its headquarters as part of a broader growth strategy that includes a transition to co-CEOs.

Prominent Hartford businessman Alan Lazowski will step down as CEO on Jan. 1, 2027, and become executive chairman, the company announced. Tony DiPaolo, president of LAZ’s Midwest operations, and John Svendblad, president of its West Coast division, will succeed him as co-CEOs.

The privately held parking and transportation company also said it expects to create more than 1,000 jobs and career advancement opportunities across North America over the next year. The growth will span parking management, transportation services, electric vehicle charging, autonomous vehicle support, artificial intelligence and other business lines.

The new Hartford positions will include roles in technology, finance, human resources, operations, marketing, customer service, data analytics and strategic growth.

“While many companies focus on succession, we are focused on growth, continuity, and opportunity,” Lazowski said in a written statement. ” Our founders remain committed to the company, our people, and our clients, and this continuity plan ensures that the culture and values that built LAZ will continue to thrive for decades to come.”

Lazowski, who will also remain chairman of the board, will join LAZ’s three other founding partners — Jeff Karp, Michael Harth and Mike Kuziak — and Chief Financial Officer Nathan Owen on a new advisory council. The group will provide strategic guidance and mentorship, and its five members plan to remain active in the company through at least 2032, LAZ said.

Karp will oversee mergers, acquisitions and strategic initiatives, while Harth will focus on personnel, company culture and marketing. Kuziak will oversee operations and technology, and Owen will focus on finance and treasury.

The company also said Eric Siskind will continue as chief operating officer and Steve Gresh will serve as chief business officer. Jason Bendett is scheduled to become chief financial officer on July 1, 2027.
