Lawyers sentenced to prison for stealing from clients

A father and son from Norwalk have been sentenced to prison for stealing nearly $1 million from clients of their former law firm and others involved in their legal cases.

A Stamford Superior Court judge sentenced 78-year-old Norton Feinstein to 12 years in prison and 48-year-old Stephen Feinstein to two years in prison. Both men pleaded guilty last May to four counts of first-degree larcency and resigned from the Connecticut Bar.

The Feinsteins were accused in arrest warrant affidavits of failing to pay off mortgages in real estate closings they handled. Stephen Feinstein also failed to give money from a settlement of a personal injury case to his injured clients.

State prosecutors say a total of nearly $1 million was stolen, and the Feinsteins had turned over $250,000 of it at the time of their guilty pleas.
