Lawyers charged 4.8 percent more in 2012 than they did in 2011, according to Hartford analytics software firm TyMetrix.
Finance and securities lawyers charged the largest average increase, 5.8 percent, while average partner rates at firms with 50 or fewer lawyers was $342.95 per hour, up 7.6 percent.
The Hartford company partnered with Virginia-based advisory company CEB to compile the report, which used law firm rate data from more than 4,800 firms with 99,000 lawyers to compile the report, which it said is the only snapshot of legal fees that doesn’t use self-reported survey responses.
