Chad Landmon, chair of Axinn, Veltrop & Harkrider FDA practice group and co-chair of the Hartford law firm’s intellectual property practice, has received the University of Connecticut Honors Distinguished Alumni Award.
The award recognizes honors scholar alumni every year who have excelled in their profession, or made significant contributions to society or academia.
Landmon is a nationally-recognized FDA and patent litigator in the pharmaceutical industry. He recently won a ruling in a case involving client Watson Laboratories that has been cited as the first time a court ever ordered the FDA to approve a marketing application for a drug.
He graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1999, with honors. He earned his B.A. as an honors scholar from the University of Connecticut, graduating in 1996, summa cum laude.
Axinn was established in the late 1990s by lawyers from premier Wall Street firms with a common vision. It has three practice areas: antitrust, intellectual property and high-stakes litigation.
Gates wins national award
Heather M. Gates, president and CEO of Community Health Resources, has received an Award of Excellence for Visionary Leadership from the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare.
Gates was selected from among hundreds of candidates from across the country for this recognition based on her contributions to improving access and quality of care through CHR and to the broader impact she’s had on behavioral health policy at a statewide level.
For the past 20 years, Gates has helped build Community Health Resources as a nonprofit, behavioral health provider in Central and Eastern Connecticut. She led the organization’s growth from a small $3 million agency covering only a few towns in northern Connecticut, to a $42 million organization providing a full array of services to half the state.
Rynn a Grassroots Champion
Andrea Rynn, director of public and government relations for Western Connecticut Health Network, was honored at the American Hospital Association’s annual membership meeting as a Grassroots Champion. Rynn was recognized for her leadership in generating grassroots and community support for issues of importance to hospitals and healthcare.
The award, given annually to one person in each state, was created to recognize hospital leaders who effectively educate elected officials about how major issues affect hospitals’ roles in the community, who have expanded the base of community support for hospitals, and who have been tireless advocates for hospitals and patients.
Rynn has worked at WCHN for nearly nine years.
Windham chamber honors businesses
The Chamber of Commerce, Inc., Windham Region honored Windham Wine & Spirits and its owners, the Randazzo Family, as the Business of the Year at the chamber’s recent awards event.
Chris the Gutter Guy was named new business of the year and Liberty Bank was named corporate citizen of the year.
The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Rheo Brouillard of The Savings Institute Bank & Trust Co.
