The Connecticut Bar Association and the Connecticut Judicial Branch hosted a re-enactment of the 1770 Boston Massacre trial as part of this year’s Law Day celebration. The May 5 re-enactment took place at the Middletown Superior Court, with Mercy High School’s championship-winning mock trial team serving as the jurors. Attorneys Wes Horton and Kevin Kane portrayed John Adams and Samuel Quincy, respectively. Judge Susan B. Handy and Judge Robert L. Holzberg presided over the event. This year’s national Law Day theme recognizes the legacy of John Adams, whose unpopular defense of the British soldiers was as compelling as it was convincing.
