Latest Q Poll: Malloy closes six-point gap

The latest Quinnipiac University Poll shows Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Republican challenger Tom Foley in a 43-43 dead heat, with 9 percent supporting independent candidate Joe Visconti.

The results, released Wednesday, mean Malloy has overcome Foley’s six-point lead in just a month. The previous Q Poll on Sept. 10 showed Foley with a 46-40 lead among likely voters.

Quinnipiac said Foley’s lead among male voters has narrowed by 8 points to 50-39. Meanwhile, Malloy’s lead among female voters has widened by four points, to 47-36.

The poll found that 25 percent of voters may change their minds before Nov. 4. Only 5 percent of voters remain undecided.
