Late N. Britain educator gifts $535K to Hospital of Central CT

The estate of a longtime supporter of the Hospital of Central Connecticut (HOCC) has gifted $535,000 to the New Britain hospital, officials said.

Anna L. Eckersley Johnson was an avid supporter of the nonprofit hospital, part of the Hartford HealthCare system, until she died Oct. 1, 2016, at 92 years old. The New Britain native, also a writer and business educator, was regularly involved in HOCC’s George Bray Cancer Center, hospital officials said.

Her estate gifts can be used to provide enhanced technology, community programs, patient care and other services, the hospital said.

Eckersley Johnson was a prominent member in the New Britain community, officials said, serving as professor emerita and former chair of the Department of Business Education at Central Connecticut State University.
