Hartford Healthcare has tapped an interim chief executive from within its hospital network to lead Windham Hospital.
Stephen W. Larcen, currently president and CEO of Natchaug Hospital in Mansfield, will assume a six-month assignment as CEO of the Willimantic hospital, beginning Aug. 22.
Larcen will keep his Natchaug post, but will physically relocate to Windham Hospital, less than three miles away.
Meantime, David C. Klein, Natchaug’s vice president of community programs, will run its day-to-day operations in Larcen’s absence.
Larcen will take over from Richard “Dick” Brvenik, who is leaving Aug. 31 to take a position as CEO at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, N.C.Â
“In his many years with Natchaug and [Hartford Healthcare], Steve has demonstrated excellent leadership skills and has developed a strong relationship with the local community,” said HHC CEO Elliot Joseph.
Joseph said that after six months, HHC will assess the leadership structure and determine how to best meet the needs of both Windham and Natchaug hospitals.
