Gov. Ned Lamont and members of the UConn men’s basketball team rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, to commemorate their 2024 NCAA championship win for the second time in two years.
The governor was joined by Head Coach Dan Hurley and other UConn officials for the occasion.
The opening bell rings between 9:26 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. each day of trading at the NYSE in New York City’s Financial District of Lower Manhattan.
The UConn men’s basketball team won their sixth NCAA championship this year.
The NYSE has tapped other celebrities and executives from corporations to stand behind the podium and push the button that signals the bells to ring, including Joe DiMaggio of the New York Yankees and rapper Snoop Dogg.
