Lake Compounce Amusement and Water Park in Bristol has a new leader.
The family theme park on Thursday announced that Daniel LLanas has taken over as general manager. He replaces Doug Hemphill, who retired in July after serving in the GM role since May 2023.
LLanas will oversee the park’s operations, financial performance, guest experience and employee development.
He has more than 25 years of experience in the theme park, water park and hospitality industries. Most recently, he served as director of admissions for Aquaventure World at Atlantis The Palm in Dubai, where he oversaw admissions and arrival operations for attractions that received more than 2 million visitors annually, according to Lake Compounce.
LLanas previously spent more than a decade with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. His positions included vice president of merchandise for SeaWorld and Aquatica San Antonio, along with other senior operations roles.
The change in general manager comes more than a year after Georgia-based Herschend acquired Lake Compounce as part of its purchase of more than 20 U.S. entertainment properties from Spanish amusement park operator Parques Reunidos.
The deal, completed in May 2025, also included Pennsylvania amusement parks Kennywood and Dutch Wonderland. Financial terms were not disclosed. Herschend’s portfolio includes Dollywood in Tennessee, Silver Dollar City in Missouri and the Harlem Globetrotters.
Lake Compounce, billed as the nation’s oldest continuously operating amusement park, has more than 50 rides and attractions.
